A Different Way To Experience Africa

A safari is more than a collection of wildlife sightings, photographs and highlights. It is an encounter with a living world. That is why we believe in travelling with respect and curiosity. You take the time to observe wildlife, connect with local communities and appreciate the landscape around you. You follow the rhythm of nature rather than rushing from one highlight to the next.

At Greenway Nature Tours Africa, we connect conscious travellers with safaris that feel meaningful and authentic. We care about nature, animal behaviour, local communities, responsible tourism and, most importantly, the way you experience Africa. We are not a conventional travel agency. We are your guide. We inspire, advise and help you create a journey that feels right for you. We work with carefully selected local partners who share our values.

On our trips in Africa, you travel with an experienced local guide who knows the landscape and understands its wildlife. They share their knowledge, help you read animal behaviour and encourage you to slow down, look closely and truly experience the natural world. Because the best safari is not the one where you see the most. It is the one you remember the longest.

Putting Together An African Safari That Suits You Perfectly

Every safari on the Greenway Nature Tours website can be tailored to you. You can adjust the route, the pace, the accommodation and the experiences to create a journey that suits you. Because a good safari is about more than lodges, routes and famous parks. It is also about timing, the quality of your guide, comfort, ethics and what you hope to experience along the way. That is why we look carefully at every journey:

  • Which landscape matches what you are looking for?
  • How much space does the route need to breathe?
  • Which accommodations reflect your values?
  • Which experiences suit your interests and comfort?
  • What are you looking for? Wildlife, photography, nature, culture, deeper connection — or a little of everything?
  • Where is there room not just to travel, but to slow down and take it all in?

Nothing has to feel standard. We listen to what matters to you and share our advice. The result is not simply a safari you book. It is a safari that feels like yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

A safari to East Africa is not something you take lightly. It is a special destination, and that requires an organization that truly suits you. To help with that choice, we have already answered the most frequently asked questions for you below.

The price of a tour is based on several elements that together shape the overall experience. These include accommodations, permits such as gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, transport, activities, the tour guide, and the overall structure of the trip.

What sometimes makes comparing trips difficult is that two itineraries may look similar on paper, while the actual experience can be very different.

A few examples of where these differences often come from:

Accommodations: The location, atmosphere, comfort, and level of exclusivity can greatly influence both the experience and the price.

Local organization: Are you booking through a company based abroad, or with a local team in Uganda/East Africa that organizes and operates the trip itself?

Tour guide and vehicle: The guide’s experience, the quality of the vehicle, and the level of service during the journey play a major role in how the safari feels.

Pace and itinerary structure: A well-planned route with enough rest and a logical flow creates a smoother and more enjoyable journey, but can also affect the cost.

What is included: Not every company includes the same services, which can make price comparisons more complicated than they first appear.

For many travel companies, safaris are based on fixed routes and large-scale operations. Trips are often sold abroad and carried out locally by partners the traveler has never met. While this can work efficiently, it often leaves less room for flexibility and personal attention.

We deliberately choose a different approach. Every trip is tailor-made and organized locally by our own team. You travel with experienced guides trained by us, who add real value to the journey. Because we manage everything ourselves, we know exactly what is happening on the ground, can adapt when needed, and make sure the trip truly matches your wishes.

In the end, it is not about finding the cheapest safari. It is about choosing the right one. And that experience simply has to feel right.

What makes Greenway Nature Tours different is that we are based here in Uganda, in East Africa, and organize our trips directly from our office in Kampala. Because of this, we know Uganda inside out and work closely with lodges, guides, and national parks ourselves.

We not only design our tours, but also operate them in-house. There are no middlemen taking over your trip along the way. This allows for short communication lines, better quality control, and constant insight into what is happening during your safari.

What truly sets us apart is our firsthand experience. We have personally visited the lodges, driven the routes, and taken part in the activities ourselves. Because of that, we know not only what is good, but especially what feels special and works best in practice.

With many travel providers, a trip is sold abroad and later carried out by a local partner. That can work perfectly well, but it often creates a more standard experience, with less flexibility and less direct control over quality.

We focus entirely on private, tailor-made safaris. Before the trip, we take time to understand your wishes, interests, and travel style, so the journey truly matches the way you want to experience Uganda and East Africa.

It is exactly this combination of local knowledge, in-house organization, and personal attention that makes the difference.

During the tours, we use 4×4 Toyota Landcruisers specially equipped for safaris. These are robust and reliable vehicles, perfect for the often-unpaved roads in Uganda and East Africa.

Depending on the route and the travel party, we choose the type that suits best. Think of the classic safari Landcruiser with a pop-up roof, or an extended version with extra space and comfort.

All vehicles are equipped to ensure you travel comfortably and have optimal visibility during safaris. Additionally, charging points are available so that phones and cameras can be easily charged along the way.

That is precisely what makes a big difference in how relaxed and complete the trip feels.

Currently, we exclusively organize private tours in Uganda and East Africa. We tailor every tour package to your wishes, pace, and interests. This ensures a personal experience and plenty of flexibility along the way.

Do you already travel as a group, for example with family or friends? Then we can of course put together a joint trip that suits your party perfectly.

By choosing private tours, we keep it personal and flexible. This creates more room to truly experience Uganda and East Africa in your own way.

Absolutely. A safari should feel exciting, not stressful. From the moment you start planning until the end of your journey, we make sure everything is professionally organized and carefully managed. Greenway Nature Tours is a fully licensed tour company registered by the Uganda Tourism Board.

Because we are based in Uganda ourselves, we remain closely involved in every part of your trip. We know the lodges, routes, parks, and local conditions firsthand, which allows us to respond quickly and ensure everything runs smoothly along the way.

The safety, comfort, and support of our guests are always a top priority. Before arrival, every client receives a dedicated 24/7 emergency contact number that remains available throughout the safari for immediate assistance whenever needed.

For larger group tours, we also assign a dedicated safari coordinator who follows the trip in real time and assists with any adjustments or support during the journey.

All our safaris are led by experienced and professionally trained driver-guides. Our guides are trained in first aid by the Uganda Red Cross Society, defensive driving, crisis handling, and customer care. They are not only knowledgeable guides, but also your main support on the ground throughout the trip.

We also maintain access to backup vehicles and trusted on-call mechanics along major safari routes. In the rare event of a breakdown, replacement or repair arrangements are made as quickly as possible to minimize disruption.

For medical emergencies, we work closely with accredited medical facilities and can coordinate emergency evacuation support with BAR SOS when necessary. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical coverage and evacuation.

Throughout the safari, our team stays in constant communication with guides and guests to ensure smooth coordination and quick response if support is needed. We also closely monitor weather conditions, road situations, and park updates so adjustments can be made in time when necessary.

Our goal is simple: to give you a safari experience that feels safe, seamless, personal, and professionally managed from beginning to end.

We take care of everything so you can embark on your adventure worry-free. A safari to Uganda and East Africa is exciting for many people, and we understand that well. That is why it always starts with a personal conversation. We want to know what you dream of, what is important to you, and what the trip should feel like.

Based on that, we create a travel proposal that fits. And as soon as everything feels right, our team gets to work. From accommodations and activities to transport, an experienced driver, and a local guide, everything is arranged.

The only thing you book yourselves is the international flight. This leaves you with the flexibility to choose what suits you best in terms of times and price.
