After breakfast, you transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled morning flight. You fly by light aircraft to Kihihi Airstrip, a beautiful journey of just over one hour with great views along the way. On arrival, you continue by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes about 90 minutes and passes through local villages and green mountain landscapes. Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the richest forests in East Africa. It is home to more than 120 mammal species, 345 bird species, 200 butterfly species, and 160 types of trees. Most importantly, this forest protects nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla, making it one of the most important conservation areas in the world.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Today is the highlight of your journey, and for many travelers, one of the most powerful experiences of their life. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is truly unforgettable. After an early breakfast, you head to the park offices for a short briefing by expert guides. At around 8:00 am, you begin your trek into the dense forest in search of the rare mountain gorilla. Bwindi is home to about half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it one of the best places on Earth to see them.

The trek can be challenging. It may take from 45 minutes to several hours, depending on where the gorillas are. You walk through thick forest, sometimes uphill, in warm and humid conditions. But every step is worth it. Then the moment comes. You find a gorilla family. A silverback sits quietly, watching over his group. You observe them as they feed, rest, and interact. You look into their calm, expressive eyes. It is a quiet, powerful, and deeply moving experience you will never forget.

Along the way, you may also see other wildlife such as monkeys, duikers, and forest birds. Bwindi is full of life. After the trek, you return to the starting point and receive your gorilla trekking certificate. You then enjoy your packed lunch before heading back to the lodge. The rest of the day is free to relax or visit the nearby community.

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge or similar

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, you leave the green hills of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and drive for about 3 to 4 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The landscape slowly changes from thick forest to wide, open savannah.

Along the way, you already drive through the park and may see animals on the roadside. With some luck, you might even spot the famous tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector. You arrive at your lodge in time for a late lunch. After some rest, you head out again for an afternoon game drive. This is your first chance to explore the beauty of “Queen,” as the park is often called.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most visited park. It is known for its wide range of landscapes—open savannah, forests, wetlands, and crater lakes. This mix of habitats supports an amazing variety of wildlife. The park is home to about 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species. During your game drive, keep your camera ready. Every turn can bring a new sight. After the drive, you return to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and have a good night’s rest.

Accommodation: Elephant Plains Lodge or similar

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

You start the day early with breakfast at the lodge, then head out for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Today, you explore the open Kasenyi Plains. This area is known for its wide savannah and rich wildlife. As the sun rises, animals become active. You will see elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, bushbuck, and warthogs.

Hippos and crocodiles live near the water, and with some luck, you may also spot a leopard or hyena. The soft morning light makes everything look beautiful and is perfect for photos. The park is also a dream for bird lovers, with over 600 species to see. After the game drive, you return to the lodge to relax and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, you head to the Mweya jetty for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This is one of the top highlights of the park. The boat moves slowly along the water, bringing you very close to wildlife. You will see large groups of hippos, buffalo along the shores, and elephants coming down to drink. Crocodiles rest on the banks, and many waterbirds fill the sky and shoreline. After the cruise, you take a short evening game drive as you return to the lodge. Then it’s time to relax, enjoy dinner, and rest after a full and exciting day.

After breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to Kasese Airstrip. Here, you say goodbye before boarding your scheduled domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport. The flight takes about 1-hour minutes and saves a long drive of 7 hours or more.

Along the way, you enjoy beautiful views from the air, including the Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Victoria. The flight itself is a special part of your journey. Upon arrival in Entebbe, if your international flight is later in the evening, our driver will meet you and transfer you to a nearby hotel.

You may relax, freshen up in a reserved day room, and enjoy lunch or dinner at your leisure. (Day room and meals are at your own expense, but we can assist with bookings if you wish.) Later, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your onward journey home.
