In Nyerere National Park along the Rufiji River, elephants and predators are often seen, while hippos and crocodiles rest in the water.
In Ruaha, a truly exclusive bush safari experience awaits you. Alongside game drives, you can enjoy boat and walking safaris, followed by a peaceful sundowner in the bush. If you wish, you can extend your journey with a few days of relaxation on the quiet shores of Pemba Island. A wonderful mix of experiences!
During your stay, you can choose from four comfort levels: budget, midrange, semi-luxury, and luxury accommodation in exclusive locations.
You fly to Dar es Salaam, where you will be warmly welcomed by our local representative who will take you to your hotel.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Nyerere National Park. It is Africa’s largest game reserve. A warm welcome awaits you on arrival. That same afternoon, you head straight out for your first game drive. The scenery here is very diverse. You will see hot springs, forests, lakes, and wide savannas. All in one place. The Rufiji River is the heart of the park. It attracts huge numbers of animals, especially in the dry season. They gather here to drink, watched closely by crocodiles. You may see elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, wild dogs, many birds, and different antelope species. Encounters with the Big Five are possible, except for rhinos. These moments feel truly special. During your stay, you explore Nyerere in different ways. You go on game drives in an open 4×4. You also enjoy boat and walking safaris. Each day, you can choose two activities. A boat safari is a highlight. It gives you a calm and very different view of the bush from the water.
After breakfast, you fly to your next highlight, Ruaha National Park. It is wild, remote, and very special. You receive a warm welcome on arrival. After lunch, you head out for your first group game drive. Ruaha is where eastern and southern Africa meet. The landscapes are striking. You see wooded hills, mountain ranges, and open plains.
Wildlife is rich and diverse. You may see elephants, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos, buffaloes, leopards, lions, cheetahs, and many types of antelope. Game drives often follow the Ruaha River. Animals gather here to drink. Especially in the dry season, the river becomes full of life and movement. Ruaha is also a paradise for bird lovers. There is always something to spot in the sky and trees. Besides game drives, you can enjoy other activities too. A night drive is an exciting option. A guided walking safari with an armed ranger is highly recommended. It gives you a deep and real connection with the African bush.
Around midday, you fly back to Dar es Salaam for your flight home. The end of a very special journey!
Optional beach extension
Optionally, you can choose a beach extension on pristine Pemba Island. You will then fly to Pemba on day 8 via Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. The perfect location to unwind in peace and quiet after your safari. Would you like an alternative beach stay? The possibilities are endless. For instance, you could consider a stay on the private island of Lazy Lagoon or Fanjove Island. An idyllic stay in the Seychelles or Mozambique is also possible!
