Your Itinerary In Details
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! You will be warmly welcomed at Nairobi International Airport (NBO) by a representative from Greenway Nature Tours, who will be waiting for you at the exit of the arrivals hall. He will be holding a sign with your name on it so you can easily identify him. A short, relaxing transfer will take you directly to your hotel in the Kenyan capital (Nairobi. Use this first evening to settle in on the African continent, recover from your flight, and prepare for your upcoming safari adventure.

Day 2: Nairobi – Masai Mara (travel time approx. 6 hours)
At around 7:30 am, your driver guide shall pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi. Together, you will set off towards the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive will take you through the impressive African Great Rift Valley – one of Africa’s most spectacular landscapes. You will drive past lively villages, colorful markets, and rolling hills. You will also gain authentic insights into rural Kenyan life and local culture. The closer you get to the Masai Mara, the fewer huts you will see, and the first animals will appear along the roadside.
You will enjoy lunch and relax a bit after the drive before embarking on your first extended game drive in the afternoon. Look out for ” African Big Five animals” in one of the most wildlife-rich regions on the planet. The evening concludes around a campfire, listening to the sounds of nature. From hyenas and hippos to lions, you’ll hear the calls of many different animals.

Day 3 – 4: Masai Mara
Days three and four days are yours to explore the vastness of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Your driver guide and vehicle will be at your disposal for game drives within the reserve’s opening hours. Whether you prefer classic morning and afternoon drives or extended full-day excursions, you can tailor your day to your liking. Your guide will also be happy to organize a picnic breakfast and/or lunch, allowing you to spend the entire day immersed in the wilderness.
The Mara is one of the most unique regions on Earth, boasting vast, open savannas and extraordinary natural beauty. The game reserve is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the whole world – from numerous antelope species to giraffes, buffalo, and elephants, as well as large populations of lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
A particularly fascinating natural spectacle is the great migration when huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, which cross the Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem with the changing seasons. On their journey, they follow the vibrant green of the savanna, fording rivers, braving crocodiles, and raising their young on the expansive plains.
In the evening, you will return to your accommodation and, weather permitting, enjoy dinner al fresco, accompanied by the sounds of the African bush.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Lake Victoria
Today, you will have an early breakfast before departing Kenya for Tanzania. Your personal Kenya driver guide will take you to the Isabania border crossing. There, he will bid you farewell, and your Tanzanian driver will be waiting to welcome you. He will be happy to assist you with the border formalities. Next, he will take you to your accommodation. You will enjoy a picnic lunch en route. Your accommodation is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Victoria in Tanzania. Speke Bay Lodge, named after the famous explorer John Hanning Speke, nestles into the savannah landscape like a small fishing village. The main buildings and guest rooms are designed as round structures in the traditional style of the local Sukuma tribe. With their white walls and rustic thatched roofs, they exude a wonderful sense of tranquility. Enjoy the gentle lake breeze and let the impressions of crossing the border sink in.

Day 6: Lake Victoria – Serengeti
After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a relaxing boat trip on Lake Victoria to a nearby fishing village. Glide across the second largest freshwater lake on Earth and observe the rich, colorful birdlife along its shores. In the late morning, continue your journey to the central region of Serengeti National Park. Soon you will be immersed in the endless plains that gave the Serengeti its name. On your first extended game drive, explore the seemingly limitless expanse while enjoying a picnic lunch amidst nature. You will arrive at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 7 – 8: Serengeti National Park
You have two full days to explore the magic of Serengeti National Park. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and of immense scientific value. Enjoy nature game drives at your leisure. Serengeti is home to the world’s highest concentration of savanna animals, from a wide variety of antelope species to giraffes, buffalo, elephants, and large populations of big cats. In the evenings, you listen to the mysterious calls of the nocturnal wilderness at camp, which gently lull you to sleep.

Day 9: Central Serengeti - Ngorongoro - crater drive
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing your journey into the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The route winds its way up in switchbacks to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater rim lies at an altitude of around 2,400m above sea level. The drive then takes you down to the crater floor, 600m below. The crater floor measures 20km in diameter and forms a completely unique ecosystem. Since only a few animals can overcome the steep walls, the area boasts an unparalleled density of wildlife year-round. You have an excellent chance of spotting elephants, massive buffalo, lions, and even the critically endangered black rhinoceros. The birdlife at the alkaline Lake Magadi in the center of the crater is also fascinating. Lunch will be a picnic this day, so you don’t waste any time on the crater drive. In the evening, you will leave the crater and travel to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 10: Ngorongoro - Tarangire National Park
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then depart the lush highlands and continue your journey towards Tarangire National Park. You arrive at your accommodation in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy an extended game drive. Tarangire is famous for having the largest elephant herds in Tanzania. An unforgettable sight unfolds as these gray giants cross the wide bed of the Tarangire River, using their trunks to dig for deep groundwater in the dry sand. Meanwhile, wildebeest, zebras, impalas, and graceful hartebeests gather at the national park’s remaining lagoons. You will spend the evening at your accommodation, surrounded by the tranquility of the Tanzanian wilderness.

Day 11: Tarangire National Park
Spend another exciting day in Tarangire. Early in the morning, you will set out on a game drive, as this is when the animals are most active. Tarangire National Park’s unique landscape is defined by the giant baobab trees that dominate the landscape. Besides elephants, you will also find large herds of buffalo, zebras, lions, gazelles, and many other animals. Enjoy a relaxing dinner at the end of the day, listening to the sounds of nature.

Day 12: Tarangire – Arusha – Return flight home
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of your camp, and a final game drive takes you to the park exit. Your driver then transfers you to Arusha Town, a drive of about 3 hours. Enjoy lunch at African Heritage, a charming venue that combines an art gallery with high-quality local souvenirs – ideal for purchasing a final memento. Next, your driver guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. With the warm dust of Africa clinging to your shoes and a suitcase full of memories from across the country, you begin your journey home.
