Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya!

Let’s begin a unique journey with this 9 Days Amboseli to Mombasa Beach Safari Holiday Package.

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our company representative who will assist you through customs and procedures and later brief you about your exciting safari and beach holiday in the days following.

After transferring to your hotel and completing check-in, you can relax a bit to do away with the travel exhaustion. Later, feel free to take a stroll around the area, explore the local streets of Nairobi for some shopping, or savor a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant. Enjoy a restful overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Take a trip to Amboseli

Today, after you have had your delicious breakfast, your expert driver or guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 am to begin your journey along the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway. As the day brightens, you will pass by local homesteads and Maasai herders.

Upon arrival at Amboseli National Park, you’ll take a brief rest before setting off on your first game drive. You won’t miss the park’s iconic landmark – the towering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, which will provide a stunning backdrop as you explore. The great volcano will frame your views looking south making a striking backdrop for the wildlife you will encounter.

During your game drive, you’ll encounter plenty of African elephants, along with giraffes, zebras, hippos, wildebeests, buffalo, and gazelles. There’s also a good chance of spotting lions and cheetahs. The relatively compact size of Amboseli National Park enhances your chances of seeing a wide variety of wildlife up close. You’ll enjoy lunch, dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen lodge or safari camp, preparing for another full day of game drives tomorrow.

Day 3: A Full Day Safari in Amboseli

Today, you’ll start early with your first game drive, followed by a delicious breakfast. Afterward, a mid-morning game drive awaits, and you’ll return to the lodge for a satisfying lunch. If you prefer more action and less downtime, feel free to ask your guide for additional game drives, and they’ll be happy to assist you.

During your game drives, you’ll encounter a distinctive pyramid-shaped hill – Observation Hill, offering the best panoramic views of Amboseli. From the summit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking vistas of the park’s plains, lakes, and the majestic, snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

This vantage point is perfect for spotting elephants, buffalo, and hippos grazing in the marshes below, as well as witnessing the vibrant birdlife of the wetlands, including pelicans, geese, kingfishers, and egrets.

Your time in Amboseli also offers the chance to interact with the local Maasai people. If you’re interested, you can take an optional visit to a nearby Maasai village to learn about their traditions and lifestyle. Just let your guide know.

Day 4: Drive To Emali Train Station For SGR Train To Mombasa

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and embark on a final short game drive as you leave the park. Having explored much of this iconic park with its varied wildlife and remarkable animal sightings, you’ll now consider yourself a seasoned safari adventurer!

As you exit the park, you’ll take in your last views of Amboseli before heading to the Emali train station. On your upcoming train journey, you’ll pass through Tsavo West and Tsavo East, offering more park views and potential wildlife sightings.

Your driver/guide will accompany you to the Emali station, assist with your tickets, and ensure you’re transferred to the Madaraka Express, a modern high-speed train to Mombasa and the coast. Your first-class ticket is included, allowing you to relax in an air-conditioned compartment with a reclining seat for comfort.

The train travels above the roadway, providing elevated views of the parks, and the large windows offer spectacular views of the passing scenery.

In about 4 ½ hours, you’ll arrive at the state-of-the-art Mombasa train station. Once in Mombasa, a private driver will take you through the city to the ferry crossing, where you’ll start your one-hour drive to Diani Beach. As you travel to your beach hotel for lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay, you’ll pass through small towns, observing local matatus and craft shops along the way.

Day 5 & 8: Relax at Kenya’s Most Beautiful Beach

Diani Beach, three times named Africa’s best beach destination, is a stunning haven where golden sands meet lush, turquoise waters. Along with its vibrant coral reefs, Diani offers a peaceful retreat, a world apart from thundering herds of wildlife. However, Diani isn’t just about relaxation on the beach – there’s plenty to explore, including lively nightlife, a blossoming art scene, and a variety of activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, water safaris, and visits to nearby villages. For exceptional snorkeling and diving experiences, the Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park is a must-visit.

Day 9: Farewell Kenya

Indulge in the last meal of your meal and get ready to checkout from the hotel, as this day brings the last day of your9 Days Amboseli and Mombasa Beach safari holiday. Post completion of checkout formalities, transfer to airport for your onward flight.
